volunteering in a nice social café once or twice a month
Café Paraplyen is an active social house in the town of Frederiksberg.
The house is run by YMCA's Social. The café is alaboration between YMCA Social, Godthaab Sogn (Parish) and Frederiksberg council, and we operate a non-alcoholic social café 7 days a week.
Many Danes volunteer, and you'll have a perfect opportunity to get to know some Danes and practise your Danishuage skills.
We have several volunteer jobs that you can take part in:
cooking
serving guests at the counter (you´d need to have a certain level of Danish first)
guest TLC - " tender loving care" - being a welcoming host to our guests
cake / bread baking
dishwashing
shopping
and other chores such as sweeping the floor inside and ourside, and at the same time socializing with the guests that frequent the house.
A large group of volunteers run the house. Approximately 105 volunteers are connected to the house. 4-7 volonteers are "on duty" at a time, approximately 4-7 hours ( once a week or once a month, or anything in between). 4 employees coordinate the rotas and support the volunteer duties.
